Ulm, September 28, 2023 - Public Cloud Group (PCG) integrates cloud compliance specialist WHYSEC to strengthen cloud security and compliance capabilities in response to the growing importance of cybersecurity among midsize and large enterprises.
In recent years, companies have undergone profound technological advances. In the process, they increasingly access, store, and process sensitive customer information in the cloud. With the rising threat of cybercrime, protecting this data through robust cybersecurity practices is critical. The annual cost of cybercrime is over $400 billion worldwide.
PCG recognises the importance of this market and is already firmly positioned in hardening systems itself. The integration of WHYSEC completes PCG's existing portfolio in security and compliance and represents an important step in further developing its services.
WHYSEC offers companies a holistic approach that combines tooling, automation, consulting, and audit coaching to efficiently support them in implementing information security standards such as ISO 27001, SOC2, or TISAX. In doing so, WHYSEC's compliance specialists rely on the leading hyperscaler platforms of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, and Microsoft, which underlines the strategic symbiosis with PCG.
"We accompany our customers along the entire cloud journey. It also means that we offer them all relevant services on the hyperscaler platforms and continuously re-orient ourselves to the needs and requirements of the market. With WHYSEC's compliance expertise, we are adding another key lever to our cloud security portfolio to support companies from a wide range of industries in their cloud strategy." PCG's Chief Operating Officer, Thorsten Raquet, explains.
Expansion of the offering in the cloud security and compliance area
The acquisition of WHYSEC enables PCG's cloud experts to expand their security offering to include IT compliance and offer their customers a comprehensive approach to technical and organisational IT security and compliance.
Thomas Schmidt, Head of Security at Public Cloud Group, explains: "At PCG, we accompany our customers securely into digitization and protect their most valuable assets. Our services are strongly focused on the hyperscaler technology stack. However, we have also been increasingly asked by our customers about organisational security issues. With WHYSEC, we now have additional experts on our team who can help us address the business area more broadly and tackle IT compliance together with our customers."
The acquisition of WHYSEC by Public Cloud Group underlines the importance of IT security and compliance in its corporate portfolio. It sets new standards for the future-oriented and secure operation of cloud environments for customers. As part of the acquisition, WHYSEC's two managing directors will assume key positions in Public Cloud Group's security division: Oliver Gehrmann will serve as Business Lead of Compliance & Security. Fabian Weber will take the role of Head of Compliance.
