A recently published study by IDC on behalf of Google reveals that companies are more than ever willing to invest in cloud security. In the course of the study, a total of 2,000 IT executives worldwide were surveyed.
Of those surveyed, 33% said that security risks and concerns were a major issue hindering or blocking innovation. 49% said they want to be able to use cloud services while controlling all access to data themselves. 84% of respondents believe their cloud infrastructures are at least as secure or more secure than their on-prem infrastructures.
Since COVID-19, safety has become an even higher priority
As a result of the pandemic, some companies find themselves with a larger attack surface than ever before, as many employees now work from home. This is partly because private internet connections are often less secure, creating new vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit. Even as companies expand their security initiatives and preventive measures, the study shows that due to the increasing number of threats, security remains a top priority for IT leaders in 2022 as well.
Confidence in the security of the cloud is higher than ever
We can clearly see that concerns about cloud security have significantly reduced. According to the study, Cloud Security is instrumental in safeguarding cloud infrastructures and data from emerging threats for businesses. Survey participants express satisfaction with the use of cloud-based security solutions.
Moreover, there's a high level of trust in the security of cloud infrastructure, with 85% of respondents stating that they feel equally secure or even more secure compared to locally operated infrastructure. Only 15% believe that using on-premises infrastructure is still safer.
Security in Google Cloud? You bet it's secure!
The number of threats is constantly increasing. But Google Cloud is here to protect your data, applications, infrastructure, and your customers from fraudulent activities, spam, and other forms of online abuse. And it does so with the same infrastructure and security services that Google uses for its own business operations - so, you bet it's secure!
