The Challenge

The infrastructure was previously hosted on-premise. With increasing user numbers, there were concerns about whether the server environment could meet the requirements. High loads were particularly considered, arising from both a large number of users and the need for scalability to accommodate more users.

In order to be able to handle high loads, visitor rates and scalability in the future, CleverPush GmbH decided to migrate completely to the AWS Cloud with our assistance.

The Solution

For a cost-efficient solution in the operational business, an automated infrastructure based on containers with DockerSwarm was developed. The content is provided via the AWS-owned CDN "CloudFront", a cluster of EC2 instances with NGINX, caching via REDIS instances as well as a central NoSQL DB provided via the AWS service "DynamoDB". All components were developed in cloud formation so that the infrastructure can always be kept in code. In order to handle the high number of users during core business hours, CleverPush relies on "autoscaling" to ensure a high-performance user experience at all times.

Results and Benefits

Obtaining and using the application landscape from the Amazon Cloud enables CleverPush to efficiently support its cloud strategy. In the future, the operational business will be further relieved by the introduction of automation tools such as Ansible and Jenkins. Further consulting will also focus on the areas of cloud security and infrastructure-as-a-code.

Marius Gebhardt, CTO of CleverPush GmbH, on the collaboration:

"Their team has been supporting us since our decision to migrate to the cloud, first with a project team for concept creation as well as architecture design and now continuously with managed services in operations. Many thanks for the smooth cooperation at this point."
