Public Cloud Group (PCG) has been honored with the Visionary Award for Sustainability at the Austrian Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards 2025. The award recognizes a joint project with EWP Recycling Pfand Österreich, which was evaluated by Microsoft as technologically excellent, innovative, and particularly impactful socially. This recognition is one of the most significant awards Microsoft grants annually to partner companies worldwide, underscoring PCG's strong role within the Microsoft ecosystem.
Award-Winning Project: Digital Platform for the Austrian Deposit System
The recognized case is based on the development of a modern, cloud-based platform for Austria's single-use deposit system, realized by PCG in collaboration with EWP. The solution digitally maps central processes, ensures transparent and efficient operations, and thereby supports the Austrian circular economy. The foundation is a scalable Azure architecture, which combines modern cloud services, an integrated data platform, and automated security and governance mechanisms. The solution is structured to be scalable long-term and can be continuously developed in a DevOps model.
Significance within the Microsoft Partner Network
The award aligns with the strategic development of PCG’s Microsoft Unit. PCG holds five Microsoft Solutions Partner Designations and five specializations in the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program, establishing it as one of the key Microsoft Solutions Partners in Europe. The specialized teams advise and support companies across the DACH region and internationally in modernizing their cloud, data, and AI landscapes, helping them to develop innovative solutions based on the Microsoft Cloud.
Statements on the Award
“This award demonstrates the impact that is created when expertise, technology, and a clear purpose come together,” says Sebastian Skock, Business Unit Director Microsoft at Public Cloud Group. “Our Microsoft Unit has grown significantly in recent years – especially in the areas of Data and AI. This is precisely where our greatest responsibility lies today: developing solutions together with our customers that create measurable value and deliver sustainable impact,” adds Igor Altach, also Business Unit Director Microsoft.
“We are extremely pleased about this recognition and that our joint project with EWP is now receiving international visibility,” says Thorsten Raquet, CEO of Public Cloud Group. “The partnership between PCG, EWP, and Microsoft shows the potential that arises when technology is used as an enabler for ecological and economic transformation. This award is not just a success for our team, but proof that data- and cloud-driven solutions can make a genuine societal contribution.”
