About GOP Entertainment Group
The GOP Entertainment Group is a leading variety theatre company in Europe with seven theatres in Germany. The company produces and presents a wide range of variety shows and also operates catering facilities in each theatre. With more than 800 employees, GOP Entertainment offers unique and unforgettable entertainment to over 800,000 guests a year.
The Challenge
GOP Entertainment
was faced with the challenge of modernising its IT infrastructure for collaboration. The previous solution was based on a terminal server, an Active Directory and local Microsoft Office programmes. This on-premise structure was sluggish, difficult to integrate and costly.
The goal was a leaner, cloud-based solution that would offer simpler administration and better integration despite complex authorisation structures. In addition, the migration of the almost 300 users was to take place without downtime and according to a tight schedule.
The Solution
Google Workspace offered a more cost-effective and user-friendly solution compared to other providers. In coordination with an IT service provider from GOP Entertainment, PCG carried out the migration and advised on security issues.
The authorisation structure takes into account the different theatre locations to which employees are assigned, as well as cross-departments and staff levels. At the same time, administration has been considerably simplified thanks to centralised management via the Google Admin Console.
In day-to-day collaboration, the Google Workspace applications help to simplify processes. These include the following areas, among others:
- Strategic discussions at director level: exchange on strategic issues and project management in shared documents or via video conferencing.
- Catering operations: Creation and coordination of menus, collaboration between kitchen directors and chefs.
- Cross-departmental online meetings: Regular meetings for coordination and cooperation between the various departments and theatres.
- Office work: Document management and joint processing of documents.
- Press, marketing and sales: Coordination of cross-group and location-specific marketing campaigns and sales strategies, briefing of all parties involved.
The cooperation with PCG was a decisive factor in GOP Entertainment's successful switch to Google Workspace. PCG supported GOP Entertainment throughout the entire change process. From planning and coordination to technical migration and training of so-called Google Guides. These guides received special training that enabled them to pass on their knowledge to colleagues. In addition, the PCG organised general training sessions in which administrative issues and specific employee concerns were also addressed.
Results and Benefits
By introducing Google Workspace, GOP Entertainment has achieved a significant improvement in collaboration. Real-time collaboration, easy sharing of files and calendars and user-friendly video conferencing have helped to modernise the way we work. In addition, departments such as accounting, marketing, sales and the catering operations benefit from improved participation and cooperation.
