Google Drive Data Separation Within a Single Google Workspace Tenant

As Viessmann sold 80% of its business to other companies (Carrier and Epta), a clean separation of data within the existing Google Workspace tenant was required. While Epta was migrated out of the environment, the other two companies continued to operate within the same tenant, requiring a solution that ensured data isolation while maintaining operational efficiency.
The Solution
PCG analyzed the client’s Google Drive, reorganized it by creating new shared drives aligned with the new business structure, and migrated data to these new drives. They then implemented granular access controls to ensure that each entity could only access its own data.
Results and Benefits
The project successfully segregated the client’s Google Drive data, affecting approximately 10 million files. This ensured data security and compliance for both entities, allowing continued collaboration within their respective teams while preventing unauthorized access to sensitive information.
