PCG further expands Cloud Native portfolio

The expansion of Public Cloud Group by the acquisition of Swiss company Miracle Mill sends another clear signal in the direction of a fully encompassing, end-to-end public cloud portfolio. Miracle Mill complements the existing offering with their technological competencies in cloud-native application and software development. Adding almost 100 cloud experts to the group, they represent the development hub of PCG in the European Union. Meanwhile, PCG is expanding its activities into numerous European countries, and now boasts approaching more than 250 experts.

First Cloud-Native Development Hub in the EU

A study by Gartner demonstrates the current

demand for cloud development in German-speaking companies. In total, almost 500 billion dollars will be invested in public cloud services this year, over 35% of which (approx. 180 billion dollars) will be invested in the cloud-native application development of SaaS solutions. The trend for the coming years will continue to rise sharply.

Through the acquisition of the Swiss company Miracle Mill AG, Public Cloud Group (PCG) not only expands its portfolio, but also offers customers a highly qualified development hub for modern and future-oriented SaaS projects in the public cloud. The objective of this hub is to support customers in their cloud journey, to develop cloud-native applications from scratch, to transform them through refactoring and to operate them automatically through managed cloud operations.

Miracle Mill is, with approaching 100 experts in cloud development, one of the technologically strongest companies on the market and has been supporting customers across Europe since 2012, with bases in Sweden, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Greece and North Macedonia.

The existing cloud development division of PCG, which is represented by the DI-ON.solutions team in the German-speaking region, is also expanding as a result. The team will grow to approximately 30 cloud development specialists by the end of 2022. Miracle Mill will continue to operate as an independent unit on the market.

Cross-border skills model as an answer to personnel shortages in the digital sector

“What do our customers need today for truly cloud-native infrastructures and applications?” asks Oliver Schallhorn, CEO of the Public Cloud Group. “Skills like infrastructure-as-code, containers and Kubernetes. Plus the knowledge of the hyperscaler platforms. Finding or building such a skill set is unique,” he explains. “This is exactly why Miracle Mill means neither Nearshoring nor Bodyleasing for us. Together with our colleagues at PCG, we create a valuable pool of highly qualified people, regardless of where they work. Their skills complement each other perfectly, and we are thus creating an 'all from a single source' portfolio that is not often available on the market.”

With more than 250 cloud experts, Public Cloud Group sees itself as a pioneer of digital transformation in the public cloud. Due to the high-tech approach from individual consulting and refactoring to development and managed cloud operations of the applications, the relevance of a versatile skill set is also growing.

“We have awesome talents with strong competencies such as DevOps, Serverless, Kubernetes and Automation. To meet the needs of our customers, we are growing cross-border in Cloud Development to around 150 people by the end of the year,” explains Mr. Schallhorn. “We give the market, and therefore our customers, what they demand for their digitization journey: qualified experts, unique skill sets and an absolute focus on the public cloud! We combine all of this in our portfolio, coupled with the cross-border skills model.”
