Public Cloud Group is a group of companies formed in May with a focus on public clouds. It has now acquired SWITCOM and taken a further step toward becoming a fully comprehensive provider of multicloud managed services. The acquisition adds a range of Microsoft Azure services to the Group’s already existing portfolio of solutions for Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.
SWITCOM is now the fourth company in Public Cloud Group, following the initial merger of Cloudwürdig, DI-ON.solutions, and Innovations ON. Based in Hamburg, SWITCOM has been a Microsoft partner for many years and will complement the Group with expertise in cloud infrastructure and in transforming work through MS365 as well as with its own managed services for mid-tier clients. Consequently, Public Cloud Group – under the leadership of Oliver Schallhorn – now serves all three relevant hyperscalers.
“The growth potentials of Public Cloud Group are many and varied. With the addition of Microsoft partner SWITCOM and its objective of establishing a fully comprehensive IT concept, these potentials are being used in the ideal way. Microsoft’s public cloud is the third cornerstone that we are developing strategically within our Group. We will offer services for it for mid-tier and enterprise clients. We are delighted to have brought SWITCOM, a long-standing Microsoft partner, into our fold and to now serve the three hyperscalers that are the most relevant internationally,” said Andreas Bösenberg, CEO of NORD Holding.

Uncompromising on public clouds
Public Cloud Group pursues an approach that is 100% focused on public cloud solutions, an approach which is unique for Germany. Public Cloud Group’s Azure team will reach a significant size of more than 50 public cloud experts over the next 24 months.
SWITCOM represents a determined expansion of Public Cloud Group’s service portfolio. With solutions for managed cloud services, cloud consulting, cloud-native application development, work transformation, cloud-based data and AI solutions, and SAP migration and transformation, it builds on the cornerstones of hyperscalers Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. By acquiring SWITCOM, the Public Cloud Group has taken the next step toward becoming a fully comprehensive portfolio of multi public cloud managed services.
SWITCOM’s company officers Nick Delefski, Hannes Bünger, and Marlen Hartmann will remain in leading positions within the Group. Sven Witthohn, the previous CEO, will not continue in his role.
Witthohn explained, “We are eagerly looking forward to working with the Public Cloud Group. We will become stronger and more credible as part of a group of companies with a similar point of view. Its multicloud approach will massively benefit not only our clients, but also our employees. This will be thanks to the economies of scale, increased business opportunities, greater client loyalty, and opportunities for cross-provider training.”
The investment was carried out by the Software & IT Services team at NORD Holding, emphasizing its sector-specific capabilities for IT services. NORD Holding was represented in the transaction by Andreas Bösenberg, Christoph Grunewald, and Konstantin Wilckens.
