Top manager Thorsten Raquet completes PCG's management team as COO

Thorsten Raquet will join the management team of PCG as Chief Operating Officer in February 2023. His many years of technical experience in SAP, cloud development and hyperscaler solutions are ideally suited to the Group’s already established focus. Together with CEO Oliver Schallhorn, CFO Stephan Pawlowski and the cloud experts at PCG, he is focusing on further growth and international expansion.

SAP, Hyperscaler and Cloud Development – a valuable combination of expertise

“We are very pleased that we could win Thorsten for the further expansion of PCG! Thanks to his many years of experience in all relevant areas, at SAP as a vendor, BSN Medical as a customer of the vendors, and q.beyond as a partner of relevant vendors, Thorsten Raquet brings with him a unique set of experience, skills and contacts,” says Oliver Schallhorn, CEO of the Public Cloud Group (PCG), describing the addition of the third group manager in the alliance.

The vendor business represents the fundamental corporate focus of PCG, which concentrates on solutions from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Google and SAP. After PCG’s market entry in the German-speaking region, the cloud service provider continues to expand internationally and recently made acquisitions in Sweden, Greece and Northern Macedonia.

The combination of traditional SAP business, coupled with the modern, future-oriented hyperscaler platforms and specifications such as cloud development, provide an optimal content-based setup of experience, which Thorsten Raquet developed over several years in his last position as Chief Innovation Officer and part of the management team at q.beyond AG.

During this time, he was responsible for the SAP business, introduced q.beyond to the age of hyperscalers and acquired Incloud Engineering GmbH, a company focused on cloud-native development, for the further expansion of the software development business. “This is a valuable experience that I can now fully leverage to bring PCG to the forefront of cloud service providers in Europe.” confirms Thorsten Raquet.

New challenges

After PCG was founded in the summer of 2021, the company, which now has more than 300 experts, has become one of the leading cloud service providers in Europe. In addition to Oliver Schallhorn as CEO, who initiated the founding of the company and the merger of individual cloud service providers, and Stephan Pawlowski as CFO, Thorsten Raquet, in his role as Chief Operating Officer (COO), will complete the management team in the group from February 2023.

With the recent acquisition of LNW-Soft GmbH, PCG completed its portfolio with SAP Cloud Services. Alongside Cloud Infrastructure, Workplace, Managed Cloud Operations, Cloud Development and Cloud Security, this area forms the sixth pillar in the portfolio, which is offered for all relevant hyperscalers.

“In my eyes, PCG has exactly the right line-up of topics, partners and, above all, colleagues – as I am now proud to say. I am definitely in the right place and look forward to my new tasks,” says Thorsten Raquet.

Thorsten Raquet’s overarching areas of responsibility include the portfolio focus on SAP Cloud Services and Cloud Development, the further organic corporate development of PCG Austria, and strategic issues relating to cross-sales and marketing.

Powerful vision for the future

PCG is a company focused on the future and reflects this not only in its technological portfolio but also in its corporate culture. Thorsten Raquet has also recognized this: “I joined PCG to remain there for the long term. In doing so, I always have our goals firmly in mind and will empower PCG to get the best out of itself. With PCG, we will build one of the best cloud companies in the world in the coming years! That is a mission of huge proportions!”.

In this context, further international expansion is one of the group’s objectives, in addition to its placement as one of the top three international cloud service providers. The foundation for this was laid in 2022 through organic growth, sustainable company acquisitions and the implementation of numerous processes and structures.

“Why is Thorsten Raquet the right person for us? Quite simply, he fits us first and foremost as a human being and also has the ability to motivate our experts, to transport content, values and visions, and in doing so to enable each and every individual to grow beyond themselves. We are nothing without our employees. With Thorsten, we have gained a strong leader for the successful future of PCG,” concludes Oliver Schallhorn.
