1. Foundation: Structured Manual Testing
In collaboration, PCG established a robust manual testing process as the first pillar of quality assurance. This included:
- Structured test case creation: Detailed and traceable test cases were created and maintained to ensure complete test coverage of critical business functions.
- Manual feature and regression tests: Every new feature was intensively tested. At the same time, regular regression tests protected the core functionalities of the entire platform against unintentional errors.
- Efficient Defect Management: All identified bugs were systematically documented, prioritized, and tracked to enable fast and effective resolution by the development team.
2. Evolution: Building Future-Proof Test Automation
To further increase release security and reduce manual efforts, PCG fundamentally modernized the existing test automation:
- Analysis and modernization: After an analysis of the existing test code, an update to the latest Cypress version was performed to restore functionality.
- Switch to TypeScript & Best Practices: The code was migrated from JavaScript to TypeScript. By introducing software architecture patterns such as Page Object Models (POM), the test suite was made more maintainable, robust, and future-proof.
- Transparency through KPIs: Measuring relevant KPIs and clear reporting created transparency regarding test coverage and the quality of software releases.
