PCG Helps Ströer Modernize Digital Wayfinders

Ströer is a leading German outdoor advertiser with a broad portfolio of digital and analog advertising spaces. The media company, headquartered in Cologne, is the market leader for the placement of city information systems in public spaces and offers its customers innovative solutions for addressing their target groups.

Ströer operated digital "Wayfinders" in shopping centers, which ran on outdated touch displays with a Linux operating system. These interactive wayfinders show visitors the fastest way to various stores. However, these were no longer up-to-date and required special IT knowledge for administration. Low user satisfaction and high maintenance were the result.

The goal was to find a modern, stable, and maintenance-friendly system for the wayfinders that offers a better user experience and can be easily scaled.

Ströer replaced the old touch displays with touchscreens with powerful Chromeboxes and adapted the wayfinding software accordingly. The ChromeOS devices offer a simple and secure solution for displaying web-based content in digital signage mode. Due to their compact size, they are ideal for unattended use in public spaces.

Thanks to a management license, the Chrome Enterprise Upgrade, the devices can be managed centrally online via the Google Admin console. PCG supported Ströer in configuring and setting up the Chromeboxes with the Chrome Enterprise Upgrade. PCG's experts ensured a smooth integration of the wayfinding software and made sure that the devices were optimally adapted to Ströer's needs.

By using the Chromeboxes, Ströer benefits from an improved user experience and reduced maintenance, which does not require in-depth IT expertise. The setup is intuitive, and the Chromeboxes run stably and do not require regular restarts.
