The Challenge of PlanRadar
As a provider of software solutions, it is very important to PlanRadar that these fulfill the highest security requirements. In addition to preventive measures, simulated attacks round off the cyber security strategy.
In view of the constantly growing threats from cyberattacks and the increasing complexity of the technological landscape, PlanRadar GmbH was confronted with the need to strengthen its own IT security. Several penetration tests had already been carried out at the start of the project.
PCG’s test was therefore to go beyond fully automated procedures. The aim was to conduct a comprehensive penetration test to test the effectiveness of the current security measures and identify potential vulnerabilities in order to increase the security of the web application hosted in the cloud.
The Solution
After discussions with PlanRadar, it was quickly recognised that both the security organisation and the application itself already had a high level of maturity. A standard approach or a highly automated test would not have added any value to the existing security level.
PCG then developed a dedicated approach that provided for a large number of aggressive and precise analyses. The aim was not only to identify existing vulnerabilities, but also to develop feasible solutions.

Results and Benefits
The PCG penetration test enabled PlanRadar to improve its already very good security level in certain areas and obtain a detailed snapshot of the IT security situation. In addition, targeted improvement measures could be taken. The collaboration led to increased security of the technical systems and strengthened the confidence of its customers in its services.
PCG delivered a detailed final report that not only described the identified vulnerabilities and their verification, but also contained recommendations for their elimination. The testers’ procedure was also described in detail and the individual “proofs of work” were made available in full. Based on these, the developers were able to make adjustments and test their effectiveness directly themselves.
